As we official move into the holiday season I thought I would give a wrap up of November.
I did not meet my November writing goal. Not even close. As it currently stands I have 3 open work in progress stories and none of them is particularly calling my name.
I have started book two of the Divinius series. For those of you that have read it you can expect the prologue to pick up right where the story left off, and a return of Darris’ point of view for a little behind the curtain peek on what our favorite villain is up to. Then it’s across the universe to see how our gang of magic-wielding soldiers is handling the changes in the status quo, leveling up their powers, new budding romances and addressing their ultimate goal of freeing their people. Aria is up to her usual antics, Amy is dealing with some interesting changes, Alex and Cassie are trying to figure out who is in charge and they are all in for it when Leo shares more about their people.
We also have book one of a brand new, currently untitled series. As I’ve mentioned previously, this is going to be a bit different than my other series as we are playing around with some supernatural fantasy. I don’t want to share too much about this, as I’m still working through what I want the story to be… but you can expect some similar themes. Chosen ones. Mystery. Secrets. YA style romance. Here’s a little opener, though I can’t promise all of it will survive edits when we get there.
“It began, as things often do, with death.
Krissy stood graveside as they lowered her grandmother into the ground. She’d thought she’d already cried herself empty, but standing there, it felt like grief was finding new ways to speak. Her senses were overwhelmed, focusing in on the smallest details as if watching everything in pieces somehow made it less real.
The breeze wafted the heady scent of cut flowers to her, but beneath it was something older — raw earth and decay. Her fingers dug into her sleeve as she struggled to stay upright. Her legs wobbled beneath her, threatening to give out as her mind tried to force her to accept what was happening. The preacher’s words blurred until she heard nothing but the repetitive thud of soil hitting the coffin.”
Then lastly, I am playing around with an adult novel. I’m not sure if this one will ever see the light of day, because I do consider myself to be a YA author, but it is still a fun project to expand my abilities and a little haunted house in the middle of nowhere leaves so many possibilities…
